Half Moonlight Manicure

So it all started with THIS photo:

That, my dears, is a half-moon manicure with navy, taupe and a tip of gold on the fingers of designer Gretchen Jones.  You may remember her from her stint as the runner-up on last season's Project Runway.  She just made a splash at NYFW, I suggest you check her out!
ANYWAY, her nails are pretty much the coolest I've ever seen.  So that got me started on my quest for more nail-spiration.

Totally jeweled + gold = Wowsa.

In contemplating what I would actually do with mine tonight I perused my collection of polishes and a certain color combo popped out at me.  I'd seen this before!  Never before have I taken beauty inspiration so literally from an article of clothing.  Much less a shoe!  Making I think their second (maybe third, I love them that much) appearance on this blog it's the Miu Miu glitter/suede lovelies back again! (and the resulting nails...I just wish I was more skilled at polish application!)

Now if someone would just gift me the shoes....

Fashion's Night Out

I spent last Thursday night at Highland Park Village in Dallas for Fashion's Night Out.  It was a fabulous evening filled with flashy fashion shows and fun-filled parties at HPV's chicest boutiques!

We stopped by Carolina Herrera and sipped champagne while we perused the most gorgeous gowns and their incredible bridal salon, Diane Von Furstenburg was packed with Dallas' most fashionable set having their photos taken for the cutest little flipbooks, the Christian Louboutin boutique was made over like a retro salon with stylists from Frederic Fekkai and Lashionistas doing some amazing, red eyelash extensions.  The brand new Palm Springs, Mid-Century style Trina Turk boutique had their grand opening and I definitely found a reason to go back with her gorgeous accessories!  Chanel was doing free mini-manicures in all their new fall shades, too bad there wasn't time for us to partake of that particular gift!  But marveling at the incredible Chanel fall collection was certainly gift enough!  Our last shop-stop was Scoop NYC - more champagne flowed, more beautiful clothes seen!  Then it was off to the  second fashion show of the night, where my friend, the incomparable Mary Manning was styling chic coifs for the runway, and one of my absolute favorite people, Chelsea was running the show backstage.

All in all it was a fantastic evening!  Here are some photos I managed to take throughout the night:

A 20th Birthday Shoutout

A very happy 20th birthday to my cousin, Rachel!!  Tonight I'm taking her bungee jumping in Dallas... I'll just be a spectator tonight, though I wouldn't mind bungee jumping in the future!

MISSONI for Target - Pronto!

It's finally (almost) here!  Tomorrow morning marks the release of the much-anticipated Missoni for Target collection.  I've not been terribly impressed with a lot of the past designer/Target collaborations but this one is actually incredible.  The legendary Italian family brand has created a 400-piece product line for Target that ranges from tights, sweaters and shoes to outdoor furniture, art, and linens!  Here are some of my favorite items from the collection:

The entire collection becomes available tomorrow morning (9.13.11).

Double Rainbow

The cooling weather (*cooling in Texas means we only hit 93 degrees during the day and it's actually an astonishingly cool night tonight at 67!!) has gotten me into such a cheerful mood I thought I'd explore perhaps the cheeriest color-combo ever.  From a complete lack of color with yesterday's lucite post, to the polar opposite...let's break the white light and go over the rainbow together, shall we....

vintage acrylic bangle

I'd taste this rainbow for sure

these floors from the NYC Kate Spade flagship are a DIY project gone insane!  I'd love to try this in a smaller space, like a powder room, with vinyl floor tape

unexpected stairs in Germany

nesting chairs

another floor tape project (above and below)

While I'm talking about rainbow floors, allow me to share with you the most amazing parquet floors out there:

Delightful!
