Fantasy Bachelorette Pad - Part 6: The Holiday

It's Christmas time and I most definitely have visions of sugar plum fairies dancing in my head!  Therefore, today's installment of my Fantasy Bachelorette Pad will be all about happy holiday scenes in my imaginary dream home! I tend toward a vintage/modern/girly side of things, surprise surprise....but in my parent's home where Christmas really lives I will always prefer a traditional red, green, and gold Christmas.  Family heirloom glass ornaments from the 50s and 60s and tattered home-made creations with 20 year old dry macaroni and glitter will always trump a chic color-coordinted tree for my Christmas morning.  But we're here to drool over Bachelorette Pad Christmas, and there ain't nothin' tattered about that!

{We have this exact vintage aluminum tree}

{below are some of my own decorations}

Merry Christmas everyone and happy decorating!

Fantasy Bachelorette Pad - Part 5: The Bedroom

To me, the bedroom is the most sacred space in my house...it really is a sanctuary from the stress of the day and therefore the decor should certainly make one happy!  This bedroom collection was actually harder to compile than the kitchen post.  I'm never afraid of color, and my own bedroom is definitely a testament to that - but I love my all-white bed.  In my proudest DIY moment, I upholstered a simple white headboard. (looks just like the one below except, you know...white.)  Perhaps before I move -which hopefully will be very soon- I'll do a post on my own house.

Now for a few beautiful boudoirs...

{my favorite light fixture, ever.  Kelly Wearstler's bedroom}

{Jonathan Adler-designed Parker Palm Springs hotel}

{Carrie Bradshaw's fictional bedroom, my walls are actually the EXACT same color}

{love the gloss on these walls.  This one's actually getting pretty close to my actual bedroom, just add a fuschia velvet chaise lounge and some more colorful art...I will take those lamps though - with one of THESE on top!}

Apparently I like canopy beds.  I had one from age 3-6...it was a queen-sized oak and white eyelet beauty, perhaps I'll share a photo this week.

Fantasy Bachelorette Pad - Part 4: The Kitchen

It's time again for the latest installment of The Fantasy Bachelorette Pad!  Are you excited?  I'm sure you are!  Today I'll be delivering a sampling of gorgeous kitchens.  This has been the hardest room for me to nail down photographically.  There seems to be a great lack of material on what I would consider my kitchen style.  Most of what one finds out there is either too traditional, too cold, or just too something.  Kitchens, more than any other room in the house seem to suffer from "cookie-cutter" syndrome.  A lack of personality and character is something I simply cannot abide by!  So here are some lovelies I've found, I think they all have something different and interesting to offer.  Quite a lot of them have marble islands to offer, I'm pretty sure I'm a fan...

{I love wallpaper in a kitchen}

{A great example of how when renovating a retro house it is absolutely not necessary to (gasp!) "rip everything out"}

{seriously cool kitchen from 1964, however - I'd ditch the copper ware on the wall...PS- is that a rotisserie chicken in the fireplace?!?}

Fantasy Bachelorette Pad - Part 3

Miss Scarlet in the LIBRARY.
Since my last Fantasy Bachelorette Pad post was on the home office, I thought I would do something a little related to that with the home library.  I love to read, and I always have to buy the prettiest version of whichever book I am to read next - because let's face it - holding a pretty, well designed book is just better than holding a half-price mass-market paperback.  So I've been building up my library for a few years now, and I didn't hesitate to jump on the color-coordinated book styling bandwagon.

Here's my inspiration:

And here's my version, with an admittedly large number of knick knacks, unfortunately.  Also, sorry about the darkness of the photo, it's always a sunny day here in North Texas.

I have a lot more books than this, but since my "library" has to double as my media entertainment center, my little shelves just can't take any more stuffing than this!  It's my dream to one day have an entire library devoted room in my house, much like the inspiration rooms, with floor to ceiling shelves and a comfy chair to read in. I am about to move (to Dallas) and will probably be downsizing so it will be interesting to see how I fit my library into the picture in my new abode.

Fantasy Bachelorette Pad - Part 2

Every self-respecting independent lady needs a a chic home office with which to conquer her business world, and here are some of my favorites:
(Above and Below) the offices of the incomparable Kelly Wearstler

(Above) literally my favorite desk EVER.

(Above) The home office of one of my favorite bloggers, Emily.  I absolutely love her use of a Confetti System garland here, streamers aren't just for parties anymore!  I've long been eyeing a more colorful version for permanent installation in my own living room.

Love this office of Roger Vivier brand ambassador, Ines de la Fressange

I'm a sucker for polished brass, especially when it's as amazing as this 1970s shelving system

(Above and Below) how amazing would it be to live in a climate that could sustain a wonderful open-air office like these!  As it rarely dips below 100 degrees here, these offices would produce more sweat than work.... but they're pretty!

Fantasy Bachelorette Pad - Part 1

I'll start off with the first in a series I'm calling "Fantasy Bachelorette Pad".  In every installment I'll cover a different room of the house, today I'm going with one of the most important rooms in a bachelorette's house and a collection of good 'ol fashioned closet porn...

Of course I couldn't leave out Carrie Bradshaw's closet...

Some of my favorite blogger's closets, Jane Aldrige from Sea of Shoes (above), and The Glamourai, Kelly Framel (below)

This Chanel-inspired dressing room/closet is absolutely real from a quite outlandish piece of real estate in my north Texas neck-o-the-woods.

Now that you're all wishing you could get dressed in one of these beauties, I leave you all to your fabulous day!
